ARE YOU EATING HEALTHY?
Think you’re eating healthy? Better think again. The majority of people who diet have no idea of what they are actually eating and whether or not it is healthy for them. The fact that what is actually contained in the food we all eat has been purposely withheld from us is a good idea of why this country has become so fat.
We can blame it all on fast foods or convenience foods but the real reason is much scarier. Food manufacturers are allowed by law not to list up to 15,000 ingredients in their food. These can range from chemicals and preservatives to items such as nickel and aluminum which are used as metallic catalyst when hydrogenating food at high heat. The residues left over do not have to be listed as part of the ingredients.
Pretty clever, huh. It gets even better!
WHY YOU ARE NOT EATING HEALTHY?
The choice to eat healthy is a personal right but a right that is increasingly being taken away from us by our own government… namely the FDA. Even if we try our best to stay away from unhealthy food choices we still are prone to eating unhealthy food. Eating healthy has become a chore. Don’t believe me?
Here’s a list of the ways we eat unhealthy without knowing it:
- Genetically modified food organisms (GMO’s) are in almost 90% of all processed food.
- We have been lied to about what is healthy by the food industry. A great example of this is soy. Soy has been linked to breast cancer in women because of its estrogen content as well as blocking the absorption of essential minerals our bodies need in the intestinal tract.
- The ingestion of artificial sugars. Everything from high fructose corn syrup (HFCS) to aspartame to sucralose and now, to Neotame has been forced upon us by greedy and thoughtless food manufacturers who deny the proven health dangers from independent scientists. These health dangers include different types of cancer, diabetes, depression, weight gain, migraines, seizures and strokes.
- Many foods are marketed as healthy because they are able to bypass certain laws. Having less than fat or calories is an easy way to do this. Items such as low-fat peanut butter, margarine or even yoke-less eggs are sure bet that eating healthy has taken on a new look.
When we understand that we are being forced to eat unhealthy food we can break the chains and be in control of what we buy and eat. We ultimately hold the power in our wallets to make the food companies capitulate to our demands of healthy food to eat.
HOW TO START EATING HEALTHY AND AVOID UNHEALTHY FOODS
Too often we take the word of the food manufacturers which they exploit on the food labels as healthy. You must do your due diligence. Here are words to live by. If the list of ingredients has more than a couple of ingredients or you can’t pronounce the ingredients themselves, they definitely aren’t healthy.
Eating healthy starts and ends with natural foods. The more you get into your diet the better your body will feel and your health improve. But beware… just because it says organic doesn’t mean it is. It must first show the USDA organic seal on it. Second, even alfalfa sprouts have been touched by the genetically modified bug. Which means they are trying to take over organic food too.
Finally, if you are a meat eater, look for beef or chicken which has been grass fed. This is their proper diet. If it doesn’t say it then these animals have been fed genetically modified corn and soy and they are tainted. You will not get the health benefits from these animals when they eat the wrong diets.
Don’t Let Others Determine How You Should Be Eating Healthy
Don’t listen to the FDA about what is healthy and what isn’t. Use your common sense and don’t be fooled. Your health will take a turn for the worse if you don’t follow these rules. Eating healthy isn’t so easy anymore. It takes some good detective work to ensure you are getting the right vitamins and minerals from the foods you eat.
Your food rights are slowly being taken away from you and if you’re not careful, the idea of healthy food will be a thing of the past. make it a point to eat healthy at EVERY meal not when you can afford it. Eating healthy is a way of life and you should go about it that way, everyday!
